Giles Gilson is currently working at his studio in Schenectady, NY, interspersed with lecturing, consulting and teaching. He is also continuing his research of the technologies that allow him more ways to express himself through his work. The following quote from Giles expresses some of his philosophy. “… As a person grows and starts to become a true Artist, the work and the person begin to merge. The expression becomes more a result of personal experiences and surroundings, and as this process continues, the work gains strength and validity. Through this growth, the artist gains integrity and strength of character; the work and expression become more honest. There are often times when expressions require the use of symbols and implication because, even though people think they like things “spelled out”, deep down, they also like the opportunity to be involved in the interpretation. It is important, however, to give the viewer the necessary stepping stones to understand enough of the content to relate to it in some way..." Giles Gilson |
